Frequently Asked BOTOX® Questions

Is BOTOX® safe?
Absolutely. BOTOX is FDA-approved for safe usage in humans. It is a purified protein that is produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium and is administered in doses too tiny to have serious negative health effects. BOTOX has been used safely for 20–30 years by Ophthalmologists like Dr. Huynh.

How long does it take to notice results?
Just a few days are needed to see an improvement in the appearance of frown lines in the brow. The extent of results will vary for each patient but for many, improvement will continue for as long as a month following the injection, and results can last up to four months.

How often will I need BOTOX retreatments?
Your BOTOX results can last a maximum of four months, and you should schedule your first retreatment when you see a marked change in your brow appearance. With each treatment the results tend to last a bit longer than the previous results. Be sure to contact Dr. Huynh for any questions you have regarding treatment times and how long you can expect the results to last.

Why is choosing an experienced BOTOX doctor so important?
While many types of health care professionals are legally allowed to administer the treatment, Dr. Huynh's background, training and experience make him uniquely prepared to deliver ideal BOTOX® results. BOTOX was discovered originally and has been used for decades by Ophthalmologists. Board Certified Ophthalmologist, Dr. Paul Huynh is not just trained in using BOTOX, but he has conducted basic science research on BOTOX and is very familiar with the purpose and application.

Is BOTOX treatment painful?
BOTOX is an essentially painless procedure that involves a small injection site. To minimize any discomfort, Dr. Huynh may use topical numbing cream or ice. There may be slight redness in the area that should subside in a very short amount of time. There is no downtime needed after a BOTOX treatment.

Am I a good candidate for BOTOX?
Injections work well on most men and women, but there are some restrictions. BOTOX should not be performed on people with facial infections, or with allergies or hypersensitivity to the ingredients in BOTOX Cosmetic. It is also not recommended for those with certain neurological conditions like ALS, Myasthenia Gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, or certain neuromuscular disorders. Schedule a free consultation with Dr. Huynh to find out if you make a good candidate for BOTOX.

What side effects are associated with BOTOX?
Temporary side effects that have been associated with BOTOX include headache, respiratory infection, flu syndrome, temporary eyelid droop, and nausea. Very rare are side effects include facial pain, muscle weakness, and erythema at the injection site, and muscle weakness.
